I chose my title of "If Laughter is the best Medicine..." because Brad and I probably laugh more than anyone else on the planet. We have been married for eight years. We have four beautiful, hilarious children that keep us laughing non-stop. I truly enjoy being their mother. Our oldest son, Garrett is seven and in the second grade. He is responsible, logical, and compassionate. Ryan is our only daughter, she's six and in the first grade. She has such a huge heart, I love her so much. She truly has the "child-like faith" attitude the Bible talks about. She wants the best for everyone, and loves to help out as much as she can. Connor and Brady are our three year old twins. Most of our laughter comes from them. They are unlike any children I have ever known. They will say and do almost anything and they give teamwork a new meaning. Although their teamwork is not always a good thing, as I'm sure I'll be describing in later posts. We just enrolled them in preschool and I think that is exactly what the three of us needed. They LOVE preschool. It gives them a chance to get out of the house and play with other kids their age. It gives me a chance to decompress and get somethings done that are ten times harder with them along.
You may be wondering at this point if I'm a Stay at home Mom (SAHM). The answer to that question is no. I work prn (as needed) as a Critical Care nurse. I absolutely love my job. I work two nights a week, and yes I did say nights, and yes that means I sometimes go more than 24 hours without sleep. I love what I do. I love the difference I make in some people's lives, though they may never know it because they are knocked out at the time. I enjoy the drips, beeps of the monitors, and all the other gadgets we get to use in ICU. I work at night because it's important to both Brad and I that I'm available for the kids during the day. While I'd like to work only one day a week instead of two I never have any intention of quitting all together, I know God called me to be a nurse. My nursing school experience is a totally another post altogether, but if you know the story, you know they only way I could have graduated, or even gotten accepted at all was if God willed it.
We now live in Oxford, GA. Where is Oxford?? Between Conyers and Covington. We moved here a little over 4 years ago when we were called to be a part of a church plant. Our church, Discover Point Church, will be celebrating it's 4th birthday this year as we get ready to begin Chapter 5. Brad and I moved to the Conyers area to support Discover Point Church, away from all of our extended family because we believe in the purpose of the church. The purpose of DPC is to meet people where they are and tell them about a God who loves them unconditionally and wants to them to know Him. He doesn't care what they look like, what they've done, or are doing, He just wants a relationship with them. If you're reading this and you don't have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, I urge you to consider hearing more about it. It is the best decision you'll ever make. Brad is the Media/Technology Director and I help out where I can, mostly in the kids area.
That is only a small clip about my life. It's not perfect, but I love my life. I'm saved by grace, I have the most wonderful husband in the world, the most hilarious, loving kids, the most supportive family and the best friends in the world. So if laughter is the best medicine, here is the daily dose.......
